Forest & Landscape Denmark is a national centre at the Faculty of Life Sciences(LIFE) at the University of Copenhagen(UC).
The Centre undertakes research, education, extension and consultancy services within forest, landscape and planning.
The Centre was established on 1 January 2004 through a merger of the Danish Forest and Landscape Research Institute, the Danish Forestry College, the Danida Forest Seed Centre and parts of the Department of Economics and Natural Resources of the former KVL- the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Denmark.
The four institutions merged in order to strengthen the professional environment and to create a unit with strong international capabilities.
1 January 2007 KVL merged with the University of Copenhagen and is now the Faculty of Life Sciences.
Forest & Landscape has some 300 employees and an annual budget of about 20 million Euro. The Centre has seven locations throughout Denmark.
What we do Within the fields of forest, landscape and planning Forest & Landscape carries out:
- Research and development
- Education and training
- Monitoring
- Consultancy services and extension
- Ministerial services
- Development and environmental assistance
We are responsible for the national monitoring of forests and forest statistics in Denmark, develop and maintain the Arboretums at Hørsholm and Charlottenlund as well as perform national, long-term forest trials.

- Other researchers
Our vision Forest & Landscape wants to establish the best possible coherence between research, education and extension within forest, landscape and planning. We want to generate possibilities of development for people, cities, landscapes and forests in a creative interaction between the four elements and everybody in Forest & Landscape.
